Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest 10 out of 10... More thrilling excitement from the Pirates franchise. This is basically a to be continued movie with #3. Depp again shines as Captain Jack Sparrow.

Apocalypto.....10 out of 10 ....A terrific surprise...Stunning and dramatic and really bloody. Sure the plot is derivative of many other action movies including some of Mel Gibson's earlier work---but it just really worked for me.

Tv Show Theme Song of the Week #13: Rules of Engagement

For me this show is all about Patrick Warburton (Puddy from Seinfeld).

We have been catching up on the early seasons of this show since we missed a lot of episodes.

Savage 2009 4 out of 10 (Yet another bad bigfoot movie)

A fire in the national park has brought something unwanted out of the forest......another bad Bigfoot movie.  Yes we have actually found a squatch in this bad horror flick.   A boring story of an enraged Bigfoot driven out of his forest by a wildfire (that may have been set on purpose) to make way for a Hunter's Paradise construction project.    Yada , Yada, Yada..... as usual the Bigfoot is so cheesy that he is rarely seen  other than some glimpses of a furry mass and trails of blood.   The  retired sheriff gets dragged into the case of a couple of disappearances and spends his time asking a bunch of questions to this bad guys hiding in the woods like he was in a Columbo episode and not a Bigfoot movie.    It was just a bunch of typical made Bigfoot killing people stuff that has been done over and over again without much success.

Morlocks 2011 6 out of 10

Starring David Hewlitt from Stargate Atlantis --who pretty much plays the same character in almost every movie I've seen him in,  this movie is basically a Stargate script mixed together with some concepts from H.G Wells Time Machine.    In a government facility  (just like where the Stargate is housed)  they bring back a scientist who worked on an ill-fated time travel project years earlier.  I guess they kept it going and got it to work,  but they ran into this creatures on the other side.  Morlocks like from the H.G. Wells story.    The scientist has to go forward in time to fix some device before all hell breaks loose.  

At the beginning  of the movie plays exactly like many Stargate episodes.  A threat is coming through the Stargate (Time Travel rift) and it looks like the whole movie may be a  trapped in the facility Stargate ship in a bottle episode,  but then they get to go through the Time rift to retrieve the device and despite the bad CGI Morlocks we actually get some decent Aliens gunfire and gore.  The movie is a decent SYFY channel distraction  when compared to so many really bad SYFY channel movies.    Like I've already said there is nothing new to anyone that watched Stargate but it is like a good episode of Stargate and that was good enough.  All in all it is predictable and yet enjoyable.

Witchslayer Gretl 2012 3 out of 10

Shannon Doherty as Gretl (from Hansel and Gretl)---has her body inhabited by the witch the Hansel that she died with some 20 years earlier.   Hansel is a  Witchslayer now .....who wanders around the forest killing witches with sticks and arrows dressed in some Ren Faire outfit with some unexplained headphones that let him communicate with his partner  (an ex-witch).   With a budget smaller than a episode of on old episode of Xena Warrior Princess this  syfy channel dud drags along.  The witch covens in this stroll through the forest movie consist of about 3 actresses in red nightgowns from Kmart battling it out with the Witchslayers.    The dialogue is bad and delivered poorly.   "Magic can only be defeated with magic"  or pointed sticks.  

If you want good  Hansel and Gretl  --check out the Once Upon a Time  episode which is much better than this entire bad movie about Witchslayer's wandering around the forest and searching through caves...and farms for witches.

Black Forest 4 out of 10 (Attack of the Flesh Eating Dwarfs)

The Black Forest could have been so bad that it was good, but it missed the mark and only succeeded in being mediocre.  I mean the plot was so bad it could have been good.  Some tourists take up a creepy guy on an offer for a free excursion into the Black Forest to visit a Fairy Mound.....what could possibly go wrong????   Well your baby could get stolen by Fairies and you could be transferred into a world filled with the nightmares from those Fairytales you read as a child.  When one of the group was attacked by flesh eating dwarfs in what looked like jail costumes--I thought it could be turning that so bad it is good corner, but it never really did.  It was an interesting concept and I give them points for trying.   With TV shows like Grim and Once Upon a Time doing it so much better I would have rather seen additional episodes of those shows than this movie.  Of course this movie comes from the same production company that gave us Rage of the Yeti and Triassic Attack....so what do you expect.

What they should have done was just make a Flesh Eating Seven Dwarfs movie....now that would have been epic.
