The Invisible Ray 1936 3 out of 10

The Invisible Ray  1936  3  out 10

Karloff and Lugosi...... Sound like a winning formula. Well not in this very dull horror movie.  A scientist played by Karloff turns into a glowing murder after being exposed to some radiation as a result of his discovery of a new element.  That is pretty sums up the whole movie.  It was a revenge tale that never really held my interest or attention.  A waste of the talents of these two horror legends.  The story just dragged...and dragged with nothing interesting happening other than Karloff's hand glowing before he killed off the people he felt had wronged him.

Enjoy the trailer....skip the movie

The Mole People 1956 5 out of 10

The Mole People 1956  5 out of 10

The Mole People is your typical scientists discover a hidden or lost world underground society, that is run by a tribe of Albinos, that mistake them for gods, then decide they aren't gods after all and try to kill them movie.  The  fight scenes are like something out of the 1960's Batman TV series with the scientists using their flashlight to ward them away. The scientists discover that the Albinos have enslaved a race of goofy looking Mole People to harvest the mushrooms they live on.  The Mole People on the awesome movie posters above turn out not to be all that menacing or even bad after all.  The scientists are just looking to escape this underground realm and take with them a cute blond that for some reason isn't an Albino (Genetic Freak). The scientists eventually free the Mole People from their slavery using them to attack the Albinos and thus seek their freedom.   Of course they escape (no big spoiler here) and make it make to the surface at the end all to have a shocking and unnecessary death of one of the characters at the end of the film to an earthquake.   Like most of these lost civilization movies--the lost civlization is completely destroyed and hidden from the outside world again at the end.  It was a decent chessy sci-fi adventure movie that reminded me a little of The Time Machine (The Morlocks)  and several old StarTrek episodes.   The Movie Posters and Trailer are more exciting than the film itself

Revenge of the Creature 1955 5 out of 10

Revenge of the Creature  1955  5 out of 10

The Creature from the Black Lagoon returns in this sequel and is just a boring and lame on screen as the first time around.  In this film he is captured and brought back to the Florida to be a part of a Marine Park,  where he can be studied  (finger  air quotes).   And be studied we mean electrically shocked and pissed off  while being chained to the bottom of a tank.   He was a pretty angry and aggressive creature before all this happened so this additional harassment doesn't turn out well.   The Creature eventually escapes   after getting out of his chains and climbing out of his tank.  The park visitors fun away screaming and the Creature escapes into the Ocean.   Then stalks the cute blonde scientist  (apparently he is a horny Creature with a thing for Blondes just like  King Kong)  why not the story is pretty much a rip off of Kong.  The movie had some fun and silly dialogue --but was unremarkable  just like the original.   A guy in a cheesy plastic looking creature suit is just not that scary.    The Trailer is the most exciting thing about this Creature feature.
