I wish I could give Santa Jaws more than a 5 out of 10, because compared to the recent batch of Bad Shark movies I've watched at least it had a concept and plot that made sense from start to finish.  It was pretty decent for a direct to TV shark movie that couldn't even afford to have a movie poster.  

The story for this flick revolves around an awkward teen that is an aspiring comic book artist.  He happens to get a magical pen for Christmas and basically accidentally summons a killer Shark with a Santa Claus hat on it's fin that starts killing off his family members after he wishes to be alone.   He and his friends take it upon themselves to try and kill this beast and discover that it is drawn to Christmas items and can only be hurt by Christmas related things as well.  There was some limited comedy in this movie concept --but not enough to make it a good movie and not enough of the shark either (I'm sure due to budget).

The best part of the movie was the opening sequence which has a dirty looking Santa that has tied up some guys girlfriend battling until Santa is killed by a shark that acquires his hat.  The over puny humor in this opening sequence --which was supposed to represent the comic book was great.  If the whole film has kept this over the top tone it would have been better.

Let is Snow 2013   5 out of 10

Let is Snow was a decent, yet easily forgettable and very predictable holiday movie.  It stars Candice Cameron as an executive that works for her dad's resort company that is sent to write up a report on a quaint little family owned ski lodge in order to assess how it can be transformed into a money making big resort.  She ended up falling in love with the son of the former owner, the place itself and the spirit of Christmas.  The problem with the film was that she falls in love with the place and the son too quickly.  There is really no transformation or drama to the piece. The plot was set up to be a transformation for her character, but it doesn't really seem like there was a conflict or hurdle in that transformation.

This movie was basically a Christmas version of Groundhog’s Day with a magical focus on the 12 Days of Christmas.   The movie stars Amy Smart and Mark Paul Gosselaar .  A women passes out on Christmas Eve in the middle of a department store after being sprayed  by perfume.  She finishes out the day after making a series of bad decisions alone with her ex’s dog.    She wakes up the next day on the floor of the department store again (just like in Groundhog’s day) and has to live the night over and over again until some magical force decides she finally got it right.   It was a cute holiday movie which was interesting because of its magical storyline…. (Who hasn’t wanted to relive a day in hopes of a different outcome? ) The story worked well, but feel short of some of the elements that made the movie it copies such a classic.   In Groundhog’s day the main character as played by Bill Murray became a much better person as a result of his experience.  His character went through a much bigger change so the ending was more satisfying.  I didn’t really feel that Amy Smart’s character needed to go through a big character transformation, she wasn’t an unpleasant person at the beginning of the story, but instead just unlucky in love.

The Search for Santa Paws is a decent family holiday movie. If the kids love all the Buddies movies the kids will enjoy this talking animal flick as well .   The plot is simple.  Santa has a magical dog that was given life by the mysterious Ice Crystal as seen in Santa Buddies.   Santa and Santa Paws travel to New York prior to Christmas and in an often used Santa plot....Santa loses his memory and gets separated from Santa Paws.    There are also a group of cute little orphans that break out into song like a scene straight out of Annie involved in the story.    Christmas of course is in jeopardy unless Santa Paws can find Santa and get him to remember who he is.    Not much for originality --but like I said a decent family talking animal movies that the kids will probably enjoy.

The movie is basically a prequel to Santa Buddies .

Now I've seen everything......On Christmas Eve in a small town the world is about to end.....And the song the 12 days of Christmas is actually a retelling of a Mayan  end of days story.   Well the end of days have arrived and a young teenager is apparently the chosen one that can stop it.....if she can gather up 5 golden rings hidden in the small town for some reason.   The disasters are cheesy, and there is a villain that is convinced he must kill the girl to save the world.   The movie stars Magda Apanowicz (previously of Caprica and another Christmas gone wrong movie  Snowmageddon)

The movie is pure cheese....but I give it a few points for trying to turn this concept into an ill conceived plot.    Who doesn't want to see a Christmas movie about the end of the world???  Right?

A random thought that crossed my mind while watching this barely watchable bad Si-Fi movie..."Wouldn't it be cool if you were Bill Gates rich to have a collection of movie props from cheesy Sci-Fi movies".   There was this goofy Mayan compass in the film that if I had a cheesy movie museum would be a great piece for the collection.

Melissa Joan Hart kidnaps Mario Lopez for the holidays in this not so believable Christmas movie.  In a movie like this you have to at some point buy into the silly unbelievable story in order to enjoy it.....I never did.   In Harry Potter you have to believe in a world where magic is possible  (I'm all in) . In Star Wars that there are thousands of worlds with different creatures  (I can follow you there)   But in this Christmas movie I never bought into Mario Lopez  being a reluctant holiday companion.   He  never tries hard enough to escape and the love story just doesn't seem to have any legs.   The premise should have lent itself to funnier situations , but the movie just falls flat.   It just becomes a standard Holiday love story.  In a month of standard holiday movies this film just gets lost in the shuffle.
