Vacations are supposed to be relaxing and a fun getaway but they don't always turn out that way. When Mr. Hobbs takes a vacation with his family to a beach house they end up in a rundown old place where even getting the hot water running correctly is a challenge. There is some witty dialogue that James Stewart pulls off quite well , but I was expecting a little bit more madcap fun than the movie delivered. The movie Summer Rental with John Candy in the 80's seemed to have been inspired by this film and also falls flat of delivering all that it could. If you are a James Stewart fan you will probably enjoy this fairly good family comedy.
