First off  Love the poster for this flick.

Asylum films may be turning a corner.  Seeing the words Asylum films meant that most likely it was going to be one of the worst movies ever made for awhile there (Almighty Thor anyone).   They have many films in their filmography to prove this point,  but they may be turning the corner now since the last few Asylum films I've seen have either been SO Bad they are Good  (like Sharknado) or fairly decent like Age of the Dinosaurs.    Age of the Dinosaurs even stars name actors that have previously been in much bigger productions Treat Williams and Ronny Cox (Total Recall, Robocop).  It follows the story of a biotech company called Geneti-Sharp that using breakthrough flesh regeneration technology has been able to cure burn victims and give people that can't walk the ability to do so again. Unforunately the companies director didn't learn anything from the mistakes another tech company called Ingen made and he decides to also bring Dinosaurs back to life.  Bad idea! as we all know from reading about what happened at Jurassic Park.   Bringing Dinosaurs back to life as attractions works about as well as as having robots like in Westworld.   Won't this tech companies ever learn?   Treat Williams character (a fireman) has to keep his daughter that he took to this demonstration safe throughout the movie that borrows heavily from the Jurassic films.

The movie has its ups and downs in both story and effects, but does a pretty good job of being a Jurassic Park rip-off and has a few interesting Dinosaur scenes like a CGI Dino running through a fairly empty mall (extras cost money you know).  There is a surprising amount of Dino footage actually in the film which I applaud the film for attempting.  I really liked the setup for the show in which they introduce the Dinos that may soon be available even to come to your birthday parties (Delusional much).  The film is flawed and yet still actually pretty decent.  It just makes me want to see the next installment of Jurassic Park.  If they can achieve this level in this low budget rip-off....I can only imagine what the next Jurassic Park film will be like.

I felt like Jeff Goldblum at the beginning of Jurassic Park wondering if there was going to be any beast in this beast from Hollow Mountain story.   We don't see any signs of a beast at all until at least an hour into the movie.   Instead what we get for the first hour is a story about two competing cattleman in a Mexican town.  The one gets jealous about the other guy talking to his girl in they get in pretty good brawl in the streets of the town.  Then an hour into the movie the old town drunk disappears and we finally meet the beast and get some distant for the time  (but Land of the Lost level)  dinosaur action.   The Beast look just as bad in the movie as he does in the poster.... The last 15 minutes of the movie just throws away the plot that had nothing to do with the dinosaur and we get a bunch of action pieces featuring the beast.  The beast tries to attack the lead female of the story through the roof of a building, then it chases the hero and finally the bad guy that was chasing the hero.   The movie ends with a silly climax of the hero swinging on a rope over some quicksand in order to trick the beast into the mire.    You have to love the over the top trailer for the movie  "Unforgetable Excitement  Exploding on the Screen"    Well I don't know about that.

A commando squad is sent to rescue a scientist from a terrorist and ends up with their helicopter getting shot down in an ancient crater where dinosaurs still exist.  Jurassic Attack gives us yet another lost world dinosaur movie with cheesy video game looking special effects and bad dialogue and cheesy acting.  The actor playing the professor that they bump into in this lost world is clearly doing an impression of Brad Pitt from Twelve Monkeys as he tries to explain the wonder of this lost world.   The commandos work their way through the jungle as they try to escape getting picked off one at a time by CGI dinos.  There is nothing new or exciting about this sci-fi Dino flick, but I've definitely seen worse.

Top 25 Sci-Fi TV Shows Countdown: # 24 Terra Nova

13 Episodes is all we got of this interesting Time Travel Dinosaur series that had an interesting mythology that we only got to see hints of.  I was worried when it first aired on the networks that its budget would not be able to be sustained unless it had blockbuster ratings.  Alas what we did get was good and if there would have been a second season it may have gotten really interesting.  The strength of this series  which had a great big budget premiere and then of course had to scale down a bit for the typical sci-fi  (ship in a bottle cost reduction episodes) was the cast.   With Jason O' Mara in the lead role  (Currently starring with Dennis Quaid on Vegas) and  Stephan Lang as the hardened commander of Terra Nova this series could have easily entertained for years if it could have found the audience it needed to keep its budget.   What would have happened in Season 2 we can only speculate on now unfortunately.  The 13 solid episodes of this series were enough to get in  spot number #24 on my list.
